Mission Statement

Our mission: BCLCILA will help develop, coordinate, and support goals and activities of the local councils in British Columbia to promote literacy throughout the province.

Purposes

To encourage the study of reading and writing at all educational levels
To stimulate and promote research in literacy development
To study the various factors that influence progress in literacy development
To heighten awareness of pertinent and significant literacy research and practices
To disseminate information relating to literacy
To support teacher training programs
To facilitate a literacy network
To advocate for literacy with government agencies
